We have a brilliant opportunity to join our fantastic team in Jesmond. We are the multi skilled hands-on practical support that helps our colleagues deliver services to our customers.
We work across a mix of properties and grounds. As our handy person, you’ll spend much of your time working across our services.
What you'll do
• Perform minor or emergency repairs, decorating and cleaning in properties and communal areas.
• Handle tasks like hanging curtain poles, moving furniture, touching up paint, changing washers, unblocking sinks, mowing lawns and clearing grounds.
• Carry out regular fire safety checks.
• Work closely with colleagues, contractors and customers
• Liaise with Customer Service Centre and contractors to report and follow up on repairs outside your remit.

You have
• A team player with a can-do attitude and enthusiasm.
• General maintenance know-how, including a bit of carpentry, basic plumbing and confidence with a paintbrush or broom.
• Comfortable working and communicating with people from all walks of life.
• Ability to use technology for online learning.
• To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage!

The practical bits
• Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hpw - job share considered), you'll mainly work Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm but we’re flexible as long as we meet our customers needs. No weekend or bank holiday work.
• Internal and external maintenance of communal areas, gardening, painting and clearing of void properties
• You’ll be based at our service in Jesmond and travel around the properties in our Newcastle patch.
• Occasionally you’ll head outside the patch for all hands on deck situations.
• You’ll need a Standard DBS check done and we pay for that.
